Skateboard Ramp

Scenario:
A competition has just been launched to design a challenging skateboard ramp for a new park. For safety reasons, all skaters must pass through a ‘check point’ at the end of each run.

Your task is to design and build a model of a ramp with as many twists and turns as possible.

Task:
The ramp needs to be at least 30cm off the ground and is to carry a marble (skateboard) down to ground level. The marble must then roll across the floor (1 metre) to hit a target (checkpoint) 20cm wide. You have approximately 30 minutes to make this.

Materials:
• Newspaper
• Masking task
• 1 piece of A4 card
• A 1 metre ruler
• 1 marble

Judging:
Your marble must change directions as many times as possible before reaching the floor and rolling 1 metre to hit the target.
