Wing high Gooftah is about a girl called Anna she wants to become a junior park ranger. Anna thinks she won’t be a park ranger because she breaks the rules by feeding the keas. Her Uncle is a ranger also. He is worried about criminals coming to capture the keas, and then selling them on the black market in a different country. Anna suspects the McNabbs are dodgy and she is right. The McNabbs captured the keas but thanks to Anna and the people at the boarder the keas are safe and returned to the park. Anna then receives a gift from the top park ranger, becoming a junior ranger.

Awesome art!

Today we had a teacher from India come and show the school how to make paper decorations. Everybody was amazed by all the different decorations he made and they were all so easy! He made lots of different creations. My favourite was the two flowers there was a lotus flower and a rose they were both so simple to make. He also made a long chain out of 7 pieces of paper and few others. Tomorrow he is bringing his book in so we can buy it. It is $4 and I think nearly everyone in the whole school will buy one!

Earthquake! Dairy of Katie Bourke

Earthquake is a book about a 11 year old girl called Katie Bourke and is set in 1930-1931. She has two best friends called Roseanne and and Lucia . Roseanne has lots of brothers and sisters and Lucia is from Italy and is an awesome basketball player. When the Napier earthquake hits on th 3rd of February 1931 her world is turned upside down but luckily no one n her family was hurt even though the earthquake was magnitude 7.8 and was only 20km deep. Their family was very very lucky as there was 256 dead. Before the earthquake struck her oldest brother Tom arrived home after 13 years. He had no work but Katie’s mother welcomed him into their home even though he was with out work and money was tight. Eileen ( Katie’s older sister) says that Tom and their father ( who had recently died) had an argument and then Tom walked out never to be seen again for another 13 years. This is a thrilling story that is based on a real life disaster that changed Napier. I recommend this book for ages 9 and up.

Wing High Gooftah is about a girl called Anna she wants to be a park ranger. When Anna breakers native park rules by feeding the Keas bread and when her Uncle Jeff, who is also a park ranger, she is worried if he finds out she will never become a Park ranger. But when Anna goes under cover she finds out that the McNabbs are criminals. If her theory is correct she could benefit and become a junior park ranger. I strongly recommend this book to ages 10-12.

The Secret of Kiribu Tapu Lagoon By Tandi Jackson

I have read a book called The Secrets of Kiribu Tapu bay and I have written a review about it.

Lee, Sare and Apu all know the secrets of Kiribu Tapu bay. A big part of this story is played by a dolphin, Lee named Lucky. When the friends see a light out at Kiribu Tapu bay they knew there was going to be trouble in their village. No-one ever fishes at Kiribu Tapu bay because of an ancient legend about the gap in the reef. When the friends find out what’s happening they think up a fool-proof plan to change the plans of the criminals. I recommend this book to ages 9-12. I found this book interesting but it did jump around a little bit.
